First of all, in case we don't have a same perception, here is what Wikipedia said about "anecdote". "An anecdote is a short and amusing or interesting story about a real incident or person". So, a childhood anecdote can be interpret as a short and amusing or interesting childhood story about a real incident or person.

A long long time ago, there is a small family, husband, wife and their child, live happily in a small village at Borneo land. The husband super sure that his wife gave birth to a daughter, but their not more then four years old stubborn child always claimed that she is a boy.
When neighbors asked, "If you a boy, why don't you have a "bird" like other little boy?"
She confidently answered, "Well, that because my "bird" was bitten by a dog"
Heard that little girl's full of imagination answer, the parent and neighbors can't stop laughing
Later, the girl change her mind and stop claiming that she is a boy. Nobody know why and how, even the girl herself. After more then 20 years, she only can remember that short conversation. No more no less ^^
